  • Why dry clean something instead of washing it at home?
While there are many reasons to send your garments to a professional dry cleaners, the most important reason is to prolong the life of your clothes while ensuring that they continue to look their best. Dry cleaning solvent is much gentler than water on your garments. It also cleans grease and dirt much more effectively than with water.
  • What is dry cleaning? How do you clean my clothes without getting them wet?
Dry cleaning is similar to washing but without the water. Dry cleaned garments are cleaned in a machine that looks like a giant washer with one major difference — instead of using water or anything water based, a liquid is used that does not contain any water. Three things cause shrinkage in garments; heat, mechanical action and moisture. By removing moisture from the cleaning process and replacing it with a liquid that contains no water, clothes can be safely and effectively cleaned without shrinkage. Materials like wool and silk generally have to be dry cleaned. By eliminating moisture from the cleaning process we are able to clean your garments while extending their life. Some stains will need to be removed by a stain removal specialist. This is where Culpepper Cleaners trained personnel excel. They are skilled, knowledgeable professionals who take pride in their craft. After dry cleaning, your garments are then professionally finished (pressed) by trained technicians using specialized equipment. This insures that all garment are properly finished with a crisp, wrinkle-free, like-new appearance.
  • How soon can I have my garments back?
We offer same day service. If you are able to get your clothes to us by 9:00 AM, they will be ready for pick up by 5:30 PM. Otherwise, we ask for at least two days to clean and press your garments. Some items such as wedding gowns and comforters take longer.
  • Does frequent dry cleaning shorten the life of a garment?
Quite the opposite. Frequent cleaning prolongs the life of your clothes. Not only do stains set with age, rendering the garment unwearable, but ground-in dirt and soil act as an abrasive, like sandpaper, causing rapid wear of fibers. In addition, insects are attracted to soiled clothes and will cause further damage.
  • How to determine how to clean my garments?
We always read the care label on your garments and follow the manufacturer’s recommendation. Today, the recommendation is often that clothes are professionally wet cleaned. No matter how your garments are cleaned, we are professionally trained in the care of all fabric types and guarantee to return your clothes to in pristine condition.
